Ministers in the government of Lebanese Prime Minister simultaneously resigned under pressure related to the explosion that killed 220 people in the port of Beirut.
"The entire government cabinet has resigned. Prime Minister Hassan Diab will go to the Presidential Palace to apply for resignation signed by all ministers," Lebanon's Health Minister Hamad Hassan told reporters at the prime minister.
The decision was made after the four ministers resigned or expressed their willingness to leave office under pressure from protesters who opposed the government during the past two days.
Prime Minister Diab will speak to the people on August 10, his cabinet will remain in operation until the new government is formed.
The Lebanese capital Beirut on August 4 was shaken after a warehouse of 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate exploded, killing at least 220 people, injuring more than 6,000, missing 110, and about 300,000 homeless.
Residents accused the government of poor management and neglect of responsibility for leaving ammonium nitrate depots in the port of Beirut without safety measures for the past six years.
Protesters protesting the government on August 8 stormed the headquarters of several ministries and declared the State Department is now "the head office of the revolution", flying a flag with a fist that has become a symbol of the demonstrations.
Lebanese President Michel Aoun admitted that the country's political system was "paralyzed" and in need of "reconsideration" after the explosion.
