Thailand: The procession to honor King Maha Vajiralongkorn is scheduled to take place on October 24 but has to be postponed for 7 weeks because of unfavorable river water.
"The procession of the boat was still held with 52 boats and the King's presence, but the day was delayed due to the flow," Thai Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam told reporters on Monday. 10/17.
After the procession of the procession took place yesterday, the organizers realized that the water level and flow of the Chao Phraya River flowing through Bangkok could interfere with the event and sought the King's opinion. "The king has decided the procession will step back until December 12," said Wissanu.
According to the Thai government's previous plan, the procession of the royal boat procession will take place on October 24, coinciding with the end of the Buddhist Vassa practice. The 52-ship fleet of swans shaped and mythical creatures will be paddled by 2,200 Thai royal navy soldiers.
The boat is expected to travel 3.4 km along the Chao Phraya River, through the old quarter in Bangkok. This is part of a series of rituals to celebrate one year after the coronation of King Vajiralongkorn.
King Vajiralongkorn, 67, ascended the throne in May this year after a three-day coronation in the royal tradition. His father, the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, died in 2016 after 70 years of rule.
