Thai SEAL task force Bureerak died after more than a year of septicemia when participating in a rescue operation for the soccer team.
The Royal Thai Navy today announced that Beiret Bureerak, who participated in a rescue operation for the Wild Boar soccer team in Tham Luang cave last year, died of a blood infection. Bureerak has been treated for a year but the condition is getting worse.
During a rescue operation for 13 members of the Wild Pig team last year, diver Saman Kuman, 38, a member of the Thai navy SEAL task force, also died of lack of oxygen.
The 11-16-year-olds and their coach were trapped in Tham Luang cave on June 23, 2018, when they came in to explore after the football practice. Heavy rain caused floods to rise and blocked the exit. They were isolated for nine days before being found by an international diver and taken out of the cave.
