The New Heavenly sect contributes 12 billion won (US $ 10.1 million) to the Korean government's anti-Covid-19 effort.

The money was sent to Community Chest of Korea, the only government-approved charity in Korea, of which the Tan Thien Dia branch in Daegu city contributed 10 billion won, and the rest came from denomination.

According to Tan Thien Dia, the money will be used to support efforts to isolate nCoV-infected people nationwide, especially in Daegu City and neighboring North Gyeongsang Province, two South Korean outbreaks. The sect said it was looking for facilities to accommodate people with mild symptoms in the two localities, and felt "deeply responsible" for the spread of the virus.

According to the Community Chest of Korea, Tan Thien Dia transferred this amount to a charity fund dedicated to combating Covid-19 without any prior notice. This organization is planning to use the money and will discuss it with Xin Tian Dia.

Tan Thien Dia became the focus of interest in Korea when 60% of the country's nCoV cases were related to the sectarian branch in Daegu and the people who used to contact them. Cardinal Lee Man-hee said on March 2 that he knelt down to apologize to the people and the government, and pledged full cooperation with the government. The sect also provides a full list of more than 310,000 members for the Korean government.

South Korean health officials say they have finished testing for Tan Thien Dia believers with symptoms of nCoV infection and are focusing testing for ordinary people in Daegu, due to the level of infection in the city community. This street is "alarming". A third epidemic cluster near Daegu has been designated by the Korean government as the "intensive care area".

South Korea is currently the second largest Covid-19 drive in the world with more than 6,000 cases of nCoV infection and 40 deaths. Nearly 100 countries and territories have imposed restrictions on entry into South Korea or strict isolation procedures for people from South Korea to prevent the spread of the disease.
