Australia NSW state officials will seek legal action to prevent the "Important Black Life" protest, which is imminent due to a Covid-19 concern.
"The New South Wales state government (NSW) will never give the green light to thousands of people who clearly disregard health regulations," NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian told reporters in Sydney, Australia.
NSW Police initially allowed the "Important Black Life" to be held tomorrow, due to be informed that less than 500 people will participate.
A last-minute effort by the NSW government to prevent protests came after Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison asked people not to join similar gatherings and marches in Melbourne and many other cities due to concerns.
Prime Minister Morrison previously advised people to find another way to express their anger at the death of George Floyd, a black man living in Minneapolis, USA, who had his knee on the back of the police.
"The health recommendations are clear. Going to the demonstration is not a good idea. Find a better way to express your emotions and exercise our freedoms responsibly," Morrison said.
The protests in Melbourne are expected to continue due to local police approval, although Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews has urged people not to participate.
Anti-racist protests and police violence broke out in Minneapolis, Minnesota, then spread to all 50 states in the US and many countries around the world.
