British police shot and killed a terrorist suspect after several people were stabbed at the London Bridge, downtown, on the afternoon of November 29.
A man wearing a fake bomb belt stabbed several injured people, before being knocked down and disarmed at around 14:00. The police were immediately mobilized to the scene.
Photos on social media showed a man pulled by armed police, before being shot and lying motionless on the ground.
Police announced this was a terrorist incident and the suspect was shot dead.
"Some were injured, some were seriously injured," London mayor Sadiq Khan said.
London rescue service has sent many teams to the scene to deal with "major incidents".
Mayor Khan also praised the people for "heroic" actions when they tried to suppress the suspect without fear of danger. "They are truly the best of us," the Mayor of London said.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson said he was updated and thanked the police and emergency services for their prompt response.
The White House condemned the attack, pledging to support its British ally. "President Trump was informed of the attack this morning at the London Bridge and is watching the situation. The United States strongly condemns all acts of violence against innocent people," White House spokesman Judd said. Deere said.
The London Bridge was the scene of an attack in June 2017. At that time, three Islamic extremists drove a small truck into a pedestrian and then continued to attack others at the nearby Borough market, killing eight people. Police shot and killed three attackers.
