Spanish Equity Minister Irene Montero was positive for nCoV, while her partner, Deputy Prime Minister Pablo Iglesias, was quarantined.
Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez will hold every meeting via video starting today after the Minister of Equality of Montero has tested positive for nCoV, a statement from the Spanish government said.
All other ministers will be tested on Tuesday morning. The Spanish royal family will also be tested for nCoV by Queen Letizia who had contact with Minister Montero.
Spain has so far recorded more than 3,000 nCoV infections, including 84 deaths. The government has announced that it will postpone all football matches in the top two leagues for two weeks due to widespread disease concerns.
Schools in Catalonia, Basque, Galicia and Murcia counties will be closed within two weeks. In addition, schools in the Madrid area have ceased operations before.
Covid-19 originated in Wuhan, China in December 2019, appeared in 125 countries and territories. In Europe, Italy is the country most affected with more than 12,000 cases, more than 800 deaths.
