991 people have been infected with nCoV in Spain in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 8,744, while the number of deaths is 297.
Figures released by the Spanish Ministry of Health today show that Madrid remains the most affected region with 4,665 nCoV infections. The number of deaths nationwide is now 297, an increase of 9 cases compared to the previous day.
The number of new nCoV infections in Spain has decreased compared to March 15, when the country recorded about 2,000 cases and the number of deaths increased by nearly 100 within 24 hours.
Spanish police today requisition 150,000 medical masks at a factory in the southern city of Jaen to supply medical facilities. 86,000 masks were delivered to Infanta Sofia Hospital in Madrid on March 15, with the remainder to be delivered today.
The Spanish government is taking strong measures to prevent the disease. The country has blocked the country since March 14, restricting travel to about 46 million people. All residents must stay at home except to go out to buy food, medicine, go to work, go to the hospital or emergencies.
Bars, restaurants and shops that do not sell food and other necessities must be closed. Covid-19 has appeared in 162 countries and territories, causing more than 175,000 people to be infected with nCoV and more than 6,700 deaths. The World Health Organization (WHO) on March 13 declared Europe to be a global Covid-19 mind.
