Singapore's Ministry of Health today calls on people to cancel unnecessary trips abroad to prevent the spread of nCoV.
Singapore will also require those who enter the country but have recently traveled to Southeast Asian countries, Japan, Switzerland or the UK to quarantine themselves at the residence within 14 days.
The latest measures to be taken in the context of the many cases of nCoV in Singapore in the past few days have been people returning from abroad, not from domestic transmission.
Singapore starting March 16 will prohibit entry and transit for foreign visitors who have visited nCoV-infected countries such as Italy, France, Spain or Germany within the last 14 days. China, South Korea and Iran are taking similar measures.
Covid-19 appeared in 152 countries and territories, causing more than 157,000 people infected, more than 5,800 deaths and more than 75,000 people recovered. The World Health Organization (WHO) on March 13 declared Europe to be a global Covid-19 mind. Singapore has recorded more than 220 cases of nCoV so far but no deaths have been reported.
