The culprit killed after shooting at Pensacola Base, Florida today left at least one person dead and several injured.
"One victim was killed. It is unknown the number of injured people are being transferred to the local hospital," according to a notice on the Twitter page of the Pensacola base. Baptist Hospital spokesman in Pensacola said five victims had been transferred but their condition was unknown.
The shootings took place at Pensacola Naval Air Base, where more than 16,000 soldiers and 7,400 civilian personnel. Escambia County police reported on Facebook that the gunman was taken down at 7:48 pm (20:48 Vietnamese time).
This is the second shooting at a US base of the week. Earlier, an American sailor in Pearl Harbor shot three workers at the shipyard of Pearl Harbor-Hickam Mixed Base in Honolulu on December 4. Two victims were killed and another was injured. Unknown sailor suicides after shooting.
Pensacola Base was established in the 1820s, is one of the oldest and most famous bases of the US Navy. Most US Navy and Marines pilots have been trained at Pensacola since World War I. The base is also home to the US Navy's Blue Angles performance flight crew.
