The city of Shanghai provides half a million masks to support South Korea amid the complicated development of Covid-19 in the country.
These masks were transferred to Incheon International Airport in South Korea on March 3, which included 100,000 masks for medical staff and 400,000 masks for people. Under the supervision of the Korean Red Cross, these masks were transferred to Daegu City and North Gyeongsang Province, the Korean Covid-19 epidemic.
In addition to the goods, the Korean Red Cross said two other Chinese cities, Shaoxing and Qingdao, also expressed their willingness to support masks, goggles and other necessary goods to help. Korean response to outbreak.
China's support of a mask for South Korea has reversed the "give and take" position between the two countries. Previously, the South Korean government had donated millions of masks and medical equipment to China in response to Covid-19 and faced many criticisms from the public due to concerns about scarcity of this item.
The Chinese embassy in Seoul also donated 25,000 medical masks to the city of Daegu on February 27, according to Yonhap.
Covid-19 appeared in 80 countries and territories after the onset in Wuhan city, China in December 2019, leaving more than 93,000 people infected, more than 3,200 dead.
China appears to have managed to contain the epidemic, as cases continue to decline over the past three days, while the number of South Korean cases continues to rise. South Korea today recorded 5,621 cases and 33 deaths, making it the second largest outbreak in the world outside of China.
