The attack submarine Kazan launches a Kalibr cruise missile from the White Sea, hitting a hypothetical target during the final stages of state testing.
"The Kazan nuclear submarine, the first of the Yasen-M class, successfully fired the Kalibr missile from the White Sea and hit the land target at the Chiza arena in Arkhangelsk province 1,000 km away.
The test took place from November 21 with fully operational submarines.
The Yasen-M is a modernized version of Project 855 "Yasen", Russia's latest generation of multi-role nuclear submarines.
Each Yasen-M-class submarine is equipped with eight vertical launch tubes with 32 P-800 Oniks anti-ship missiles or 40 3M-54 Kalibr anti-ship missiles, which can help them cope with the entire fleet.
These submarines are also equipped with modern sensor systems, capable of detecting underwater targets at a distance of up to 600 km, while the most modern submarine in the United States, the USS Virginia, can only transmit.
Western analysts and many senior US officers believe that the Yasen and Yasen-M class submarines are the most formidable opponents of the US Navy because of their low noise, high speed and powerful weapons.
