The alarm bell sounded, shattered glass lying on the floor.

The 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate, commonly used to produce fertilizer, at a port in Beirut exploded on August 4 with a destructive power of 240 tons of TNT, rocking the city.

Beirut officials have not yet declared the initial cause of the explosion.

Beirut Governor Marwan Aboud said that the explosion caused 300,000 homeless people and devastated more than half the city, the damage could be up to about 5 billion USD.
