Qatar said the suspect dumped her newborn in the Doha airport trash is an Asian woman, charged with murder.
A Qatari prosecutor announced on November 23 that the newborn girl's parents had been thrown in the trash at Doha International Airport last month.
Officials in this country are conducting legal proceedings to arrest her on charges of murder.
According to the prosecutor, the investigation found the mother had an affair with a man "also of Asian nationality" and the child was born "as a result of the relationship".
In Qatar, having sex outside of marriage is a crime, and it is not uncommon for a woman to leave her children in order not to go to jail.
"Upon departure, the mother threw her newborn baby into the trash in the toilet in the airport lobby and boarded the plane to return home," the prosecutor said.
After discovering the abandoned child on October 2, Doha airport security officials conducted a large-scale search for the mother.
This search angered Australia, calling it an act of sexual assault.
The Qatari prosecutor said subsequent investigation found that some airport staff had "taken action" by sending female medical staff to search the passengers.
Several security officers have been indicted and could face up to three years in prison, but the prosecutor did not specify what actions these people committed, or how many were prosecuted.
The Qatari government is taking care of newborn babies thrown in airport toilets.
