South Korean officials today confirmed one person died of nCoV in the country, while the number of new cases doubled.
The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) this afternoon said patients died on the morning of February 20, while on coronavirus treatment at a hospital in Cheongdo city, southeast of the country.
KCDC did not disclose the patient's identity, age and nationality, said health officials were investigating the exact cause of the death.
South Korean officials today recorded 53 new cases of nCoV, doubling from yesterday, bringing the total number of people infected with the virus to the country to 104. Many of these cases were spread by a 61-year-old female patient. in Daegu city after attending a ceremony together at the church.
The Covid-19 epidemic broke out in China since December 2019, so far has appeared in 28 countries and territories around the world, causing 75,662 people infected and at least 2,121 deaths.
In addition to the new death in Korea, eight people died of nCoV recorded outside of mainland China, including Japan, France, the Philippines, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Iran.
