Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has accused India of financing the banned armed groups in the country.

"India has instigated terrorism within Pakistan by providing training, financial and material support to terrorist groups," Aisha Farooqi, a spokesman for Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said on June 24.

A spokesman for the Indian Foreign Ministry did not yet respond to a request for comment, but India also often makes similar allegations against Pakistan.

On June 23, India and Pakistan announced that they would expel half of each other's embassy staff, marking the first time the two countries have done so in nearly two decades.

In August 2019, Pakistan suspended nearly all trade and transport relations with India due to a dispute in Kashmir, a hot spot of border conflicts between New Delhi and Islamabad for decades.

Kashmir is currently divided into two parts controlled by India and Pakistan, but both claim sovereignty over the entire region.

Tensions were pushed high on February 27, 2019, when the largest air war broke out between the two countries' airplanes since 1971, in which a series of Indian and Pakistani fighters fought over Kashmir.
