Pyongyang has vowed not to give Trump anything without receiving any benefits to himself, the North Korean diplomatic adviser said.
"North Korea is not interested in a summit that will not benefit them," North Korea's Foreign Ministry adviser Kim Kye-gwan said in an article published by the Central News Agency (KCNA) today. .
"If the US really doesn't want to give up on negotiating with us, it should decide to pull back its hostile policy of treating North Korea as an enemy," the article said. This is considered a response from North Korea after US President Donald Trump called Kim Jong-un leader "to act quickly, reach an agreement soon".
US President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un agreed to resume dialogue after a surprise meeting at the Korea-North Korean border in June, but the working-level talks between the Pyongyang delegation and Washington in Sweden on October 5 did not produce the expected results.
North Korean nuclear negotiating chief Kim Myong-gil said the dialogue was broken. Kim said Pyongyang rejected the US "softening" talks in December and vowed not to engage in similar talks.
After the US-North Korea summit in Hanoi did not achieve the expected results, North Korean President Kim Jong-un in April issued a deadline at the end of the year for Washington to show more "flexibility" in the lifting of sanctions on Pyongyang. North Korea has recently tested short-range missiles, apparently to "warn" the US about the weapons it is developing.
