Canada today reported an additional 1,615 positive cases for nCoV, bringing the total number of nationwide infections to 11,747.
According to data from the Canadian public health agency, the number of new infections in the last 24 hours has increased by about 16% from the previous day. The country also recorded 25 more deaths from nCoV, up nearly 20% from yesterday, bringing the nationwide number of deaths to 152.
Currently 1,979 cases of nCoV in Canada have recovered, while 120 people are in critical condition.
Ontario, Canada's most populous province and home to Ottawa, announced on March 28 that it would ban gatherings of five or more people. The order does not apply to households with 5 or more people and funerals will be allowed to have a maximum of 10 people at the same time.
The governments of Canada and the US, the largest epidemic region in the world, also agreed on March 18 to close the common border, baning "unnecessary" travel activities to deal with Covid-19.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his three children have isolated themselves at home since March 12, when his wife, Sophie Gregoire Trudeau, contracted nCoV after her trip to London. Trudeau announced on March 28 that she had recovered, but the Canadian Prime Minister said he would continue to work from home to encourage the people being asked to stay home.
Covid-19 has appeared in more than 200 countries and territories after its departure from Wuhan, China in December 2019. Globally, more than one million people are infected, nearly 56,000 die from nCoV.
