Bangladesh At least 50,000 protesters in the capital Dhaka protest against the support of French President Macron to publish the cartoon of Prophet Mohammed.

Bangladeshi officials on November 2 said that protests that had started at the country's largest mosque were stopped as they approached the French embassy area, where security was increased.

Police estimated that around 50,000 protesters took part, while organizers said more than 100,000 attended.

The crowd kept chanting "no blasphemy against the Prophet Mohammed" and burning a dummy of the French President.

"I urge merchants to throw away French products. I am asking the United Nations to take strict action against France," Babunagaori told the crowd of protesters.

Before that, Islami Andolon Bangladesh (IAB), one of the largest Muslim parties in Bangladesh, organized many anti-French protests with the scale of tens of thousands of people.

The French president angered many countries in the Muslim world by supporting the publication of the cartoonist Mohammed, a taboo against Islam.

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan earlier called on the country's people to boycott French goods.

French President Macron on October 31 criticized Turkey for maintaining a "warlike", "imperial" stance and reaffirmed that it would "always defend the right to freedom of speech, thought and painting in the country.

France was shocked two weeks ago when a history teacher was beheaded by an 18-year-old Tunisian youth for showing students a cartoon about the prophet Mohammed during a free speech lesson.
