Iran recorded 147 more deaths from nCoV, bringing the number of deaths to 1,135 of the 17,361 infected.
"Unfortunately, we have detected 1,192 new nCoV cases in the last 24 hours. Please follow the instructions and stay home," Iranian Deputy Health Minister Alireza Raisi today told Iranian national television in Tehran. The number of new infections and new deaths increased compared to yesterday.
"Everyone knows about the disease but strangely, some people don't take the issue seriously," Raisi added. "If everyone cooperates, we can control it, and if not, the translation can last more than two months."
Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei yesterday issued a religious decree banning "unnecessary" travel after the public repeatedly ignored warnings and demands from security forces. The Iranian Ministry of Justice temporarily releases about 85,000 prisoners, including political prisoners, to deal with the epidemic.
Iran is one of the countries most seriously affected by Covid-19. At least 12 Iranian officials and former officials died, while 13 were isolated or treated. Iranian physician Afruz Eslami yesterday led a study by Sharif University of Technology, warning that 4 million Iranians will get infected and 3.5 million will die if people do not follow the instructions of the Covid-19 room.
Covid-19 appeared in 167 countries and territories, causing more than 202,000 people to be infected, more than 8,000 people died and more than 82,000 people recovered.
