800 Chinese nationals were arrested and hundreds of computers and SIM phones confiscated during a Mongolian criminal investigation.
The detention took place during a raid by the Ulaanbaatar capital police on four sites on October 29 after two months of investigating, Gerel Dorjpalam, head of the Mongolian General Intelligence Department, said during a press conference. October 30.
Gerel Dorjpalam did not provide specific details about the offenses, but accused the group of involvement in illegal gambling, fraud, computer hacking, personal information theft and money laundering.
All 800 Chinese nationals detained arrived in Mongolia on a 30-day tourist visa. The Chinese embassy in Ulaanbaatar said the country would cooperate with the Mongolian police to investigate.
