Raul Orihuela Gonzalez, former mayor in the state of Queretaro, central Mexico, married his daughter-in-law three years after his son died.
The wedding of former mayor Raul Orihuela Gonzalez and daughter-in-law Valeria Hassen Morales took place on a beach in the state of Quintana Roo, southeastern Mexico, last month. Mr. Gonzalez's son died in a car accident in September 2016 at the age of 28. Gonzalez and Valeria's age was not disclosed.
Earlier, Valeria and his son Gonzalez had two children together. It is not known if the children will attend the wedding.
Eight months after his son passed away, Gonzalez began dating his daughter-in-law. However, Gonzalez, then still mayor, denied the relationship. He said he just wanted to "be close and love" for his two grandchildren.
Gonzalez is mayor of Tequisquiapan for two terms 2009-2011 and 2015-2018. Local media said he had been caught in scandals, even escaped death after being shot in the face in an assassination attempt at his home.
The wedding of Gonzalez and his daughter-in-law made him continue to become the subject of mockery on social networks. Many people sarcasm that he became "stepfather" of two grandchildren.
