Melania's military-style khaki jacket and skirt at the Republican congress was said to be too "cold" and gloomy.
America's First Lady Melania Trump was warmly greeted as she walked out into the Rose Garden at the White House to give an important speech on the second night of the Republican National Conference on the evening of August 25.
She wore an olive-green outfit, consisting of a military-style long-sleeved jacket with large lapels, several copper-buttoned pockets, a over-pillow skirt and a large black belt accentuating the ring.
The US First Lady's outfit quickly gained attention on social media and was identified as a design by the Alexander McQueen brand.
However, many people expressed disagreement with this choice of President Donald Trump's wife.
"Is it me or is it true that Mrs. Melania chose this dress to look so military and cold? This is not the right choice," said one on Twitter.
"I rarely pay attention to her outfit, but her dress is quite gloomy," agreed another.
"What message is the First Lady trying to give with this dress?", One asked.
Melania, 50, a former model, is known for her elegant and stylish fashion sense.
In a speech on the evening of August 25, the First Lady of the United States sent her condolences to those who have lost loved ones due to the Covid-19 pandemic and to pray for those who are suffering from illness and suffering.
"I know many people who are anxious and some feel helpless. I want you to understand that you are not alone," Melania said.
She also pledged that the Trump administration "does not stop fighting until it finds an effective treatment or vaccines for all."
