Many US mayors announced a curfew, while seven states demanded National Guard reinforcements as protests intensified.
Georgia, Kentucky, Wisconsin, Colorado, Ohio and Utah on May 30 together with the Minnesota state government called on the National Guard to assist in the wake of the protests after the death of George Floyd, a black man.
Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear called on the National Guard to deploy forces to help "keep peace" in Louisville, where protesters re-ignited the death of Breonna Taylor, who was raided by police and shot dead.
Georgia Governor Brian Kemp said he would authorize the deployment of Georgia National Guards to protect people and property in Atlanta.
In Wisconsin, Governor Tony Evers said he authorized at least 125 members of the National Guard to come to Milwaukee to assist the police as well as protect the infrastructure.
Colorado Governor Jared Polis approved the request to send the National Guards to the mayor of Denver mayor.
"Sadly, a relatively small but violent group is posing a threat to law enforcement officers and the safety of people in Columbus and Franklin counties," DeWine posted on Twitter.
Utah Governor Gary Herbert posted on Twitter that members of the National Guard will help control the escalation in downtown Salt Lake.
The Pentagon has also asked soldiers to carry out active support missions in Minnesota, where thousands of members of the National Guard have been deployed.
Faced with the unrest caused by widespread protests across US cities, many mayors also issued a curfew order to prevent people from pouring onto the streets.
Curfew from 8pm to 6pm the next day will continue in Minneapolis and St.
The Mayor of Cincinnati, John Cranley, declared a curfew from 10pm to 6pm the day after the protests became violent and two police officers were injured in the clashes.
Milwaukee and Atlanta both imposed a curfew from 9pm to prevent protesters from falling onto the streets.
A curfew from 10 pm to 6 pm the following day was approved by Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther.
Areas of Columbia, including the city center, have a curfew from 6pm and are expected to close by early next week.
Los Angeles authorities imposed a curfew at night after police reported hundreds of people participating in the protests on the evening of May 29 were arrested.
The governments of Philadelphia, Rochester and Seattle also decided to impose a curfew overnight as protests in the region became increasingly complicated and became violent.
Floyd's demonstration for justice came from Minneapolis, then spread throughout the United States.
