Ship owner MS Westerdam is working with authorities in other countries to find people leaving the ship after discovering a passenger infected with corona virus.

"We are working with Malaysian and Cambodian health authorities, as well as experts from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization. Local health authorities contact and provide more information, "the Holland America Line company, owner of the yacht MS Westerdam, released a statement today.

The announcement came after 145 passengers leaving MS Westerdam yacht docked in Cambodia flew to Malaysia to continue the journey back home. However, eight of them were detained for nCoV testing, of which an 83-year-old woman tested positive for the virus. This has raised concerns that 137 passengers leaving Kuala Lumpur to return home may have been contaminated with nCoV.

Holland America Line said 1,454 passengers and 802 crew members had no previous symptoms of coronary pneumonia (Covid-19).

At least 236 passengers and 747 crew members remained on the ship, while others stayed at hotels in the Cambodian capital Phnom Penh. Thai authorities have announced dozens of people aboard the MS Westerdam are also in transit in the country to return home.

Ms Westerdam yacht docked in Cambodia on February 13 after two weeks was rejected in places like the Philippines, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea and Thailand due to concerns about nCoV. Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen arrived at Sihanoukvillera port to welcome, shake hands and give flowers to passengers as they got off the train to get on the bus to the airport to return home.

After Kuala Lumpur issued a positive notice for the nCoV, the process for passengers leaving the yacht was halted, and some flights scheduled to carry the remaining passengers from Cambodia to Malaysia were also canceled.

The Covid-19 outbreak has been reported in Hubei province, central China since December 2019, and has been reported in 27 countries and territories. Worldwide there are 71,330 cases of infection, 1,775 deaths and 10,607 people cured. Five deaths outside of mainland China have been recorded in Japan, Hong Kong, France, the Philippines and Taiwan.
