Agriculture Minister Calleary resigned today for violating the Irish government's nCoV guidelines by attending the golf club's gala dinner.
Irish Prime Minister Michael Martin said he had approved the resignation of Agriculture Minister Dara Calleary, sent 37 days after the official was in office.
"People across the country have to sacrifice themselves, despite the difficulties in their home lives and businesses, in order to comply with the Covid-10 regulations," said Prime Minister Martin.
The Oireachtas Golf Association's 50th anniversary gala (Irish parliament) was held on August 19, the day after the Irish government announced new restrictions to prevent nCoV from spreading and reduce infections.
The Irish Examiner reported that Minister Calleary was one of 82 people attending the gala at a hotel in Galway County.
Martin's government on August 18 banned events or parties at restaurants and hotels, and mandated no more than 6 people per table while dining.
Prime Minister Martin said Calleary's actions "disqualified" and did not sincerely apologize in a post on Twitter on 20/8.
Calleary is the second politician to hold the post of minister of agriculture in Ireland's new government created in late June. Former agriculture minister Barry Cowen lost his post more than half a month in office following a controversy over the official.
In the UK, the notary was outraged when Prime Minister Boris Johnson's most senior adviser, Dominic Cummings, remained in office despite violating the COV restrictions.
Covid-19 outbreak from December 2019, appeared in 213 countries and territories with nearly 23 million infected cases, nearly 800,000 people died and more than 15.5 million people recovered.
