Iranian Revolutionary Guard commander Hossein Salami said the enemy aircraft carrier would not be safe if close to the country's coast.

"The successful installation of ballistic missiles on the Iranian Revolutionary Guard's high speed boats makes it impossible for the enemy aircraft carriers to be safe no matter where they are near the Iranian border," said Major General Salami. Salami also stated that Iranian missiles and drones (UAVs) will "respond most aggressively to the enemy's smallest mistakes". He asserted that the US sanctions made Iran accelerate defense technology programs, including equipment that turns conventional ballistic missiles into precision-guided missiles.

Iran develops various types of UAVs, ballistic missiles and cruise missiles to prevent enemies from attacking the country. The United States, Israel, Saudi Arabia and European Union countries have expressed concern over Iran's missile capabilities and say they threaten regional and global security.

US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin warned that Iran is seeking to develop precision guided missiles that can strike any target in the Middle East with a deviation of only 5-10 meters.

Relations between Iran and the United States worsened after President Donald Trump announced his withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear deal, and imposed sanctions on the Middle Eastern nation. Many Iranian officials were listed on the sanctions list in early November.

Iran announced the shooting down of a small foreign drone (UAV) on November 8 in the port city of Bandar Mahshahr, bordering Iraq. Iranian officials say fragments of the UAV were collected to identify the source. The US Department of Defense said no UAVs had been shot down in the region.
