Hong Kong Democrats won more than half of the 452 county seats when results began to be published after midnight on November 24.
As of 8am this morning, democratic candidates have won a majority of votes in the majority of city councils, accounting for 333/452 seats. All previous district councils were under the control of the pro-central government faction in Beijing.
As the election results began to trickle out after midnight, a number of voting centers were cheering. Many people also chant the slogan used in the protests nearly 6 months in Hong Kong.
