Cliton is the most favored Democratic party member in the new online poll, despite not running for the 2020 presidential election.
The Harris Poll online survey by the US Center for Political Research at Harvard on December 9 showed that Clinton took the lead with 21% of the vote, followed by former Vice President Joe Biden with 20% of the vote. Senators Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren and former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg received 12%, 9% and 7% respectively.
The survey had 1,859 participants and was conducted from November 27 to November 29.
Survey respondents also voted for a list without Mrs. Clinton, in which Mr. Biden received the highest support with 29% of the vote, followed by Sanders with 16% and Warren at 13%.
The former US secretary of state announced in March that she would not run for president again next year, although "many" were pressuring her to consider this option.
Clinton lost to Trump in the 2016 presidential election, receiving only 227 electoral votes, while the White House boss won 304 votes. However, the former US Secretary of State received 65.8 million popular votes, higher than Trump's 62.9 million votes.
