USAThe 4-storey mural with the expressive expression typical of child activist Greta Thunberg is due to open next week in San Francisco.

The project is funded by One Atmosphere, an environmental non-profit organization, funded and painted. The location chosen was north of the Native Sons building on Mason Street, near Union Square in San Francisco, California, USA.

Argentinian artist Andreas Iglesias, who is finishing this massive work, said his ultimate goal is to raise public awareness about climate change.

"Greta is amazing. She knows what she is doing. I hope this mural will help people realize that we need to care about the world," Iglesias said in an interview on November 8.

Paul Scott, executive director of One Atmosphere, expressed his hope that the painting will impress people and make them "open to remarkable persuasions" of 16-year-old Swedish environmental activist .

"Greta is a bright light in the midst of darkness. We hope people will follow her lead and make some changes," Scott said, saying he was not sure if Greta knew about presence of the work or not.

However, many people question the effect of this form of mural, even some comments that it is annoying. "Nobody likes that girl's gaze," one commented on Twitter. "I guess the real estate prices in that area have plummeted. It looks scary."

Many others criticize the work for not helping to solve problems that have been plaguing San Francisco in recent years, such as the homeless crisis or the streets full of rubbish.

Greta Thunberg gained attention last year after dropping out to launch an environmental activist called "Friday for the Future", protesting outside the Swedish parliament on Friday every week. The movement has spread throughout the country, attracting millions of students to participate.

The 16-year-old activist on September 23 spoke at the Climate Action Summit at UN Headquarters, New York, USA, accusing global leaders of not taking the necessary steps to protect environmental protection. Thunberg and 15 other children filed lawsuits against Germany, France, Brazil, Argentina and Turkey for failing to fulfill their responsibility to prevent the environmental crisis.
