German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas called on 27 EU members "with a voice" to oppose China through Hong Kong security laws.
Speaking at the meeting of the Council on Foreign Relations in Europe on June 29, German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said that "the indispensable thing for Europe is to have a single voice with China".
"This is the most important, due to the urgent need to investigate the pandemic and China's drastic action in Hong Kong and surrounding areas," Maas said, adding that for the above reason.
The announcement came after the EU's foreign policy and competition leaders on the same day demanded drastic measures on Beijing's trade activities.
Hong Kong is concerned in the context that the EU is urging China to finalize investment agreements with the bloc.
Mr. Maas's remarks were also made just before the Standing Committee of the Chinese National Assembly passed the Hong Kong security law this morning.
