While the United States still struggled to control Covid-19 and disagreed about the opening plan, the EU reached a historic agreement to revive after the crisis.

On July 17, the leaders of the European Union (EU) and 27 member nations gathered in Brussels, Belgium, to discuss the post-Covid-19 economic bailout.

After four days of running for negotiations, solving problems and resolving disagreements, the 27 members finally agreed to approve a historic agreement with a total value of 750 billion euros (857 billion USD).

David A. Andelman, a CNN commentator, said that the EU countries reaching agreement showed Europe's post-Covid-19 restoration and restoration model is on the right track, something the US tried in a hurry.

"This is also a proof that the EU can overcome the crisis on its own for the first time without the UK and the budget of nearly 11.6 billion dollars contributed annually," Andelman said.

The first EU conference since the end of the pandemic opened on the birthday of German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Portuguese Prime Minister Antonia Costa.

Costa argues that Merkel can do the same by accepting European common debt, with the view of "one for all, all for one".

The EU countries are all in the process of recovering from the post-pandemic, but the economic losses are enormous and this is the problem that Europe needs to solve today.

Faced with difficulties in relations with the United States under President Donald Trump, some European leaders expressed their desire for a new direction.

Apart from the economic bailout package, the EU's next 7-year budget will increase from nearly US $ 1,112 billion to nearly US $ 1,244 billion, according to Andelman.

Rich countries in Northern Europe will spend more on this aid package to help the poorer members of the bloc, according to Bloomberg.

Italy, one of the countries that received the most from this bailout, is also the first and most heavily affected by the pandemic in Europe.

New French Prime Minister Jean Castex announced last week that it would enforce a mandatory mask on masks in enclosed spaces, from shops, businesses, to public transport, when the Covid-19 threat remained.

"They are not just talking. During the peak of the blockade, my son was once asked by the police to return after going too far from his apartment in central Paris," Andelman said.

As a result of these tough measures, France recorded only 697 new cases of nCoV and 14 deaths on July 18, while the US that day recorded a record number of more than 71,000 people infected and more than 920 people.

Andelman added that the US population is 5 times higher than France, but on July 18, the number of people infected with nCoV is more than 100 times, while the number of deaths is also 75 times higher.

Like France and Italy, most EU countries have relatively good control of the pandemic, with the exception of Sweden, which recorded an increase in the number of cases and deaths due to its "one-on-one" strategy against Covid-19 and each

In March, the frontier opened for 25 years between European countries was also forced to close when the pandemic was complicated.

This leaves EU member states unable to find a way to resolve their differences in the first two days of the summit last weekend, according to Andelman.

Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, along with the leaders of Austria, Denmark and Sweden, demand that the distribution of the bailout for any country needs to be agreed upon by all 27 member countries.

"This could cripple the EU's economic bailout program," Andelman said.

However, the conference was finally reached when the relief agreement was approved.

"We have done it. Europe is strong and united," said the president of the European Council (EC) when announcing the conclusion of the conference.

Andelman said the EU's bailout discussion process is similar to the Democratic and Republican debate over the US third bailout.

Not only did it find a "common voice" on the agreement, Europe also seemed to be doing quite well in community isolation, testing and tracking exposure history, measures to help prevent the spread of the disease.

Control of Covid-19, meanwhile, remains a headache for the United States, according to commentator Andelman.

The US continues to be the largest epidemic region in the world, with nearly 4.2 million infections and more than 147,000 deaths.

Andelman also said that unlike Europe, the US epidemic control measures are not as effective as expected.

When the US Congress calculated the second stimulus package, Republican senators and President Trump could not agree on whether to include wage cuts.

Commentator Andelman said that the United States may have to learn a lot from European leaders in finding a common voice in the midst of crisis and solidarity to bring the country out of the pandemic and quickly recover the economy.
