Crocodiles attacked people for two consecutive days in the rivers in North Konawe, South East Sulawesi province, leaving one dead and one missing.
Indonesia's disaster recovery agency today confirmed a woman was killed by a crocodile last night. Her body was found one day later in the Lalindu River. Today, the agency continues to receive notice that another woman has been attacked by crocodiles in the Lasolo River, still missing.
Djasmidin, head of the North Konawe Disaster Recovery Authority, said rescue forces have been mobilized to the Lasolo River area to search for the missing.
"There was another attack today and we are still looking for victims," Djasmidin told local media today.
The first victim, Nurgaya, 48, was attacked by a crocodile while washing clothes in the river with his daughter. The daughter rushed to the rescue agency to report the news.
The identity of the second victim has not been confirmed.
The two attacks occurred in two locations just 20 kilometers apart. Local officials say this is the fifth deadly crocodile attack this year.
