A Chinese student was arrested by police in Tokyo on January 14 for faking a Japanese defense force membership card.
A 23-year-old IT student, who lives in the Taito district of Tokyo, was stopped by police in the capital in Japan in October 2019. He presented a military identity card of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (GSDF), but the police suspected it was a fake card.
After the investigation, the police decided to arrest this student yesterday. Authorities have accused him and another accomplice of using the printer to fake the GSDF identity from August 2019.
He printed his real photo on the card, but his full name, rank, serial number on the identity card were fake.
Chinese students were not allowed to disclose their identities to investigators that he used the fake card to participate in a survival game in which he played a soldier of the GSDF. The suspect said he contacted a Chinese person via the Internet to make a false identity, but did not intend to impersonate a GSDF soldier.
The JGSDF said it had not recorded the use of fake Chinese military personnel 'cards to break into Japanese military facilities.
