China raised the flood emergency response level from level IV to level III when heavy rains devastated the southern part of the country.

China's Ministry of Water Resources yesterday said water levels in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, as well as Dongting Lake and Ba Yang Lake, have increased due to prolonged heavy rain.

The situation caused the Ministry of Water Resources to raise the flood emergency response from level IV to level III.

According to the ministry, coordination of reservoirs upstream of the Truong Giang River will be implemented to reduce the amount of water flowing into the Three Gorges Dam and reduce the flood control pressure between the downstream and the middle of the river.

The Three Gorges Dam on July 2 saw the first flood of the year on the Truong Giang River with a flow of 50,000 m3 / sec.

The average rainfall in China last June was 112.7 mm, which is 13.5% higher than the annual recorded figure.
