Hong Kong Special Zone Chief Carrie Lam said "does not mind" about US sanctions on her personal, but will protect the interests of the city.

"Although there are some inconveniences in my personal work, I have nothing to worry about. We will continue to do the right things for the country and Hong Kong," Ms Lam said today at the news conference.

Lam's statement mentions Washington's imposition of sanctions against her personally and 10 officials from Hong Kong and mainland China for "undermining autonomy" of the special zone.

Ms. Lam said she personally could not go to the US, but the Hong Kong government will continue to promote relations between the special zone and US businesses.

Referring to the recent US requirement that goods made in Hong Kong exported to the US must be labeled "Made in China" after September 25, Ms. Lam affirmed that Hong Kong and mainland China are two members.

The administration of US President Donald Trump imposed sanctions against 11 officials from Hong Kong and mainland China after Beijing enacted Hong Kong security laws.

The Hong Kong government accused the US sanctions of "blatant" intervention in China's internal affairs.

Beijing as well as the Hong Kong government have confirmed that the new security law only targets a small group of people, while the rights and freedoms of Hong Kong people as well as the interests of foreign investors are still guaranteed.
