Many towns on the southern edge of Vancouver Island were abuzz with the possibility of the couple Prince Harry and Princess Meghan becoming residents here.

Just a few days after returning to England, Meghan flew back to Canada to reunite with her 8-month-old son, Archie. According to media reports, Meghan returned to the Saanich Peninsula on Vancouver Island, north of Victoria's capital Bristish Columbia, where the British prince and his wife had a holiday for the last 6 weeks of last year.

Residents in many towns on the peninsula believe that the British prince and his wife will move to live here, after announcing their withdrawal from senior roles in the British Royal Family on January 8 and sharing their time in North America.

"I don't consider myself a royal follower until they come to town, and of course it shows our concern," said Joan Wilson, a Sidney resident on the Saanich Peninsula.

Many towns on the peninsula, long famous for many retirees for a leisurely life and near the ferry terminal to the continent of Columbia's Bristish province, often have fewer than 20,000 residents with many great themed gift shops. ocean and the store sells "fish and chips" (traditional British fish and chips).

The British prince and his wife have attracted the attention of local residents since the vacation. "They have an interesting mix of rich and middle-class people. There are many secret villas here so we have tried to find out where they are," said Beth Doman, a North Saanich resident.

Though curious, the locals still respect the privacy of the Harry family. "The crowds surrounding and taking pictures are the last thing they want to see. It won't be as long as people get used to living here," said Ron Buschgens, owner of Lolly Gobble Sweet in Sidney.

Many residents refused to answer this question when interviewed and said they wanted to respect the privacy of the British royal couple.

"Harry's mother died because all the attention was on her and it was tragic. I'm sure they just want to leave and have a safe haven, where they can live a normal life," Lynn Salituro, of Sidney, refers to Princess Diana.

Buckingham Palace said Prince Harry, Prince William and Prince Charles were summoned to Sandringham, the Queen's home today, to discuss directly the decision to withdraw from Harry's royal family - Meghan. Princess Meghan is expected to attend the telephone conference from Canada.
