With more than 415,700 cases of nCoV nationwide, California has surpassed New York, becoming the largest outbreak in the United States.

California Governor Gavin Newsom said the state recorded 12,807 new cases of nCoV in the past 24 hours, the highest daily increase since the outbreak.

According to data from NBC, nCoV infection in California has increased to 415,763, exceeding 415,094 in New York and higher than the fifth largest epidemic in the world, South Africa with more than 390,000 cases.

"That's another reminder, when we need to warn anyone about the level of influence nCoV is causing," said Governor Newsom.

In March, Newsom became the first governor to order a statewide blockade, forcing restaurants, bars, entertainment centers and many other businesses to close or switch operations, helping cases and deaths.

However, California, like many other US states, witnessed a new wave of new infections soaring again as the government gradually lifted restrictions.

To prevent Covid-19, Newsom re-imposed restrictive measures.

Texas and Florida, two other Covid-19 hotspots in the US, reported more than 10,500 and more than 9,700 new cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the total state infection to nearly 368,000 and nearly 380,000 cases.

Since June, the United States has seen new infections recover and the deaths are on the rise.

Covid-19 has appeared in more than 210 countries and territories, causing more than 15.3 million people infected and more than 630,000 deaths.
