The Navy's HMS Enterprise survey ship passed through the Taiwan Strait on December 7, according to Taiwanese military agency.
"Taiwan has been monitoring intelligence and investigating to track the operation of the ship. There was nothing unusual during this period," Taiwan's military agency announced today.
The cruiser HMS Enterprise was commissioned in 2003 to conduct Royal Navy survey operations, support for submarines or amphibious operations. The ship was deployed to Libya in August 2014 to help evacuate 217 British citizens and diplomats because of violence in the country.
The ship helped rescue more than 9,000 migrants from Libya through the Mediterranean to Italy in 2015. Last year, the ship was deployed to Norway.
China considers Taiwan a part of its territory waiting for reunification, including by force if necessary and asserting that crossing the strait is a violation of sovereignty, while the US and many countries consider this route to be a maritime area. international.
The US cruiser USS Chancellorsville in November moved through the Taiwan Strait in the ninth US Navy to conduct this operation this year. The US Navy has recently increased the frequency of its presence in the Taiwan Strait, despite fierce opposition from China.
