Brazil and Greece recorded nCoV infections originating in Italy, bringing the total number of countries and territories detected to 41.

The case in Greece is a 38-year-old woman who recently traveled to Milan, Italy. "The woman is being treated at the Thessaloniki hospital and is in stable condition," Greek Health Ministry representative Sotiris Tsiodras said today in Athens. Officials are identifying those she has contacted and they will isolate those who have been in close contact.

The case in Brazil was a 61-year-old man in Sao Paulo who arrived in Lombardy, northern Italy on February 9-21, Health Minister Luiz Henrique Mandetta said today. This is the first Latin American country to detect nCoV patients.

Greek authorities yesterday said they would close some public places and impose travel restrictions in the event of a major outbreak. The Greek Ministry of Health has designated 13 hospitals across the country to specialize in handling nCoV infections.

On February 24, the Greek Olympic Committee said it was discussing a plan to replace the Olympic torch lighting for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in the event of an outbreak. The torch is scheduled to be lit on March 12. After the torch relay in Greece, it is scheduled to be given to Japan on March 19 at the stadium in Athens.

Italy is currently the fourth largest outbreak of nCoV in the world, after mainland China, South Korea and the Diamond Princess yacht. Italian health officials said the country recorded more than 370 cases of nCoV, 12 people had died. The latest victim is the 69-year-old man who died today.

The Covid-19 outbreak has been reported in 41 countries and territories after the outbreak in Wuhan, China in December 2019. Worldwide, more than 81,000 people have been infected with nCoV, more than 2,700 have died and more than 30,000 have recovered.
