Biden has previously received public support from Democratic state leaders such as Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, California Governor Gavin Newsom and New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.

US President Donald Trump has regularly praised his administration's response to Covid-19, while criticizing governors, especially those of the Democratic state, for poor handling of the pandemic.

Last month, the US President blamed "green states" (Democratic-led states) for spreading nCoV in the country.

According to the analysis by Axios, there is currently no link between the party of the state governor and the number of deaths from Covid-19 in the locality.
