China Beijing launched a campaign to test about 800,000 residents after finding two cases of community nCoV infection in the northeast district.
Pang Xinghuo, deputy director of the Beijing Center for Disease Control and Prevention, said the large-scale nCoV testing took place today in Shunyi District, with 92 test points set up to collect biological samples.
To date, local health officials have recorded 5 new cases of nCoV infection and one asymptomatic case are both people in close contact with two reported community infections on December 25.
The above 5 cases are from 31-33 years old, of which 4 people work together in an industrial zone and one is a supermarket employee in Thuan Nghia district.
On December 26, China recorded 22 new infections, of which 12 were in the community and 10 were imported, according to the National Health Commission.
Faced with the increased risk of nCoV infection in the community, Beijing has enacted some stringent measures such as requiring all employees to stay in the city during the New Year and Chinese New Year holidays in February.
Officials in several other provinces such as Liaoning, Shaanxi and Guangdong have also warned people not to make unnecessary trips out of their cities or regions.
