The latest survey shows that Trump remains the presidential candidate most endorsed by Republican voters, well ahead of potential names.
Survey results of Politico / Morning Consult released today show that 53% of the Republican voters and independent voters favor Republicans favor Donald Trump for re-election for president in the next 4 years.
Vice President Mike Pence came in second with 12% support and Donald Trump Jr., the president's son, got 8% support.
The survey was conducted online from November 21 to 23 with 1,990 registered voters, with an error rate of 2%.
Meanwhile, a Seven Letter Insight survey published a day earlier also found that up to 66% of Republican voters said they would support Trump if he decided to run for re-election.
Nearly 38% of survey respondents want the US President to refuse to hand over power and stay in the White House.
Despite losing the 2020 election, according to the US constitution, Trump is still eligible to run for a second term in 2024 or later, when he is nearly 80 years old.
After a two-week delay, Director Emily Murphy sent a letter to President-elect Joe Biden on Nov. 23, stating that the Trump administration is ready to start the transition.
US President Donald Trump wrote on Twitter that he had recommended Murphy and the GSA team "do what is necessary with the preliminary process" for the national interest, adding that he has directed his team to act similarly.
The Politico / Morning Consult survey also found that 62% of voters, especially Democrats, support the way Biden handles the transfer of presidential power.
The majority of survey participants believe that Covid-19 and healthcare issues should be considered the Biden administration's top priority for the first 100 days of the White House.
