Houthi rebels deploy a series of suicidal UAVs that attack Saudi Arabia's Abha international airport, causing a passenger plane to burn.
"Houthi rebels in Yemen have carried out a cowardly terrorist attack against Abha International Airport in Saudi Arabia. This is a war crime and endangers many civilian passengers," said the coalition.
Pictures shared on social networks showed an Airbus A320 aircraft of the Saudi Arabian Airlines Flyadel with a hole in the tail and a burning view.
The Houthi spokesman later confirmed the force deployed four suicidal drones (UAVs) Samad-3 and Qasef-2K for the attack.
The Saudi army today announced the successful interception of an armed drone of Houthi against the town of Khamis Mishait, where the country's key air base is located.
The United States has called on the rebel group to "immediately stop aggressive actions", while Foreign Minister Antony Blinken telephoned his Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud to discuss the attack.
Conflict erupted in Yemen since the end of 2014 when Houthi rebels took over much of the country, including the capital Sanaa.
The Saudi-led coalition has launched a campaign to intervene in Yemen since March 2015 to repel Houthi, restoring the internationally recognized government of President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi in exile.
The Houthi forces have produced a series of UAVs, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles capable of hitting targets deep in Saudi Arabia, despite years of dealing with military campaigns and blows.
