The 6.1 magnitude earthquake struck northwestern Laos, near the Thai border at 6:50 am, US Geological Survey (USGS) said.

The epicenter is located at a depth of 10 km, 220 km northwest of Vientiane, Laos and about 92 km from Muang Nan district in northern Thailand.

There have been no reports of earthquake damage or casualties.
