"We are deeply saddened by the sudden and tragic death of our lovely baby boy after the disaster in Beirut," the family said.

They also thank those who have encouraged and supported their families, and their condolences to all those affected by this tragedy in Lebanon.

Issac's family is looking to leave Lebanon and will likely be quarantined upon returning home to Western Australia, which is taking the most stringent measures in the country in response to Covid-19.

There are about 5,000 Australians living in Lebanon, which is facing an economic crisis, water shortages, electricity shortages and the Covid-19 pandemic.

Late on August 9, Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison attended an online meeting with leaders and ministers from 30 countries to discuss supporting the Lebanese people.

The explosion at the Port of Beirut is believed to have stemmed from 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate stored in a warehouse over the past six years.
