A man was pulled from the wreckage 69 hours after Xinjia, a hotel quarantine hotel for contact with Covid-19 patient in Fujian, collapsed.

According to Xinhua state news agency, the unnamed man was rescued this afternoon and was taken to a nearby hospital. China's Ministry of Emergency Response Management said 61 people were also pulled out and nine others escaped themselves from the wreckage of the Xinjia Hotel in Quanzhou City, Fujian Province.

The agency added that about 200 local residents and 800 Fujian firefighters were dispatched to the scene, with 11 search and rescue groups. On 7/3, 22 people were killed and 41 injured. 9 people may still be stuck.

The Xinjia Hotel is one of only two isolation facilities that have been in contact with a Covid-19 patient in Lich Thanh District, Quanzhou, where 47 nCoV cases have been recorded. This project consists of 7 floors with about 66 rooms, was built in 2013 and converted into a place of business from 2018.

A video from China's Ministry of Emergency Response Management showed rescue workers helping children wear a medical mask before pulling out of the rubble. They also spray disinfectants on each other to prevent disease. Quanzhou Evening News said all the isolated people in the hotel were negative for nCoV.

The accident has once again raised concerns about the safety standards of constructions in China. Shang Yong, deputy minister of the Emergency Response Management Department, said the Xinjia Hotel was illegally built and repeatedly violated the regulations, while also criticizing local officials for "ignoring supervision responsibilities".

Covid-19 originated in Wuhan, China in December 2019, appeared in more than 110 countries and territories around the world, leaving more than 115,000 people infected and more than 4,000 deaths. Mainland China has been hardest hit with more than 80,000 cases and more than 3,100 deaths, but recently there have been many positive signs.
